Meeting of Working Group 2

On June 24, 2019 in Constanta, Romania, was held a meeting of "Working Group 2 - Sustainable Fishing, Facilities and gears" at the Black Sea Advisory Council (BlSAC).

Stakeholders from the fisheries sector and environmental NGOs met on the subject of "Turbot, catches, quotas, total allowable catches (TACs), stock rationalization, fishing intensity, social or economic effect, labeling option". Their work was supported by active observers-experts and scientists from Bulgaria and Romania.The meeting group also took advantage of various scientific opinions of leading institutes, positions of the administration on the key issue "Future management plan for the turbot in the medium term", as well as from a database provided by NAFA Bulgaria and AMPA Romania.Within days "Working Group 2" will provide for procedural coordination series of recommendations to the Executive Committee of BlSAC and they will be sent to DG MARE and to the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean and Black Sea (GFCM).
