Summit Meeting

On 21.09.2017, a meeting with the Management of the Black Sea Advisory Council was held  in the Headquarters of General Directorate ‘Maritime Affairs and Fisheries’ (DG MARE). On the part of BlSAC, the meeting was attended by Mr. Manaila Marian Sorinel – Chairman of the Advosiry Council, and Dr. Yordan Gospodinov – General Secretary. 

On 21.09.2017, a meeting with the Management of the Black Sea Advisory Council was held  in the Headquarters of General Directorate ‘Maritime Affairs and Fisheries’ /DG MARE/. On the part of DG MARE, the meeting was attended by the General Director, Mr. Joao Machado, and Mrs. Pascal Colsan, Head of Advisory Councils. On the part of BlSAC, the meeting was attended by Mr. Manaila Marian Sorinel – Chairman of the Advosiry Council, and Dr. Yordan Gospodinov – General Secretary. 

Mr. Manaila made a brief presentation of the association, followed by a discussion of the following issues:

 

  • Expansion of the territories under Natura 2000 in the Black Sea region and an increase in fishing quotas;  
  • Fishing capacity of Romania;
  • Permitted /authorized/ and banned fishing methods, and opportunities for applying European practices in the Black Sea with regard to the catches of bivalve demersal species;  
  • Opportunities for the participation of representatives of small-scale fisheries in the control, data collection and offshore waste clean-up.  

 

The BlSAC earned the approval and support of the senior management of activities and initiatives aimed to attain the objectives of the program. The prospects created by the joint work with national institutions, scientific communities, GFCM, as well as with the EC and GD MARE, were outlined. An increase in the turbot quota is expected this year.
